Wing Commander V Gouripathi is an Indian Air Force (IAF) veteran, commissioned in January 1977 as a Meteorological Officer. With a strong educational background in Physics (Post Graduate) and Meteorology (M Phil), he served the IAF for 27 years before opting for premature retirement in 2003. During his tenure, Gouripathi worked as a Meteorologist and Senior Meteorological Officer at various bases across India, from the Car Nicobar, in A&N Islands to Suratgarh in Rajasthan. One of his notable achievements was being part of the 9th Scientific Expedition to Antarctica, for which he received a Commendation from the Chief of Air Staff. After retiring from the IAF, Gouripathi continued to contribute to society by working in education, public health, and ITES sectors for 15 years. Currently, he is an active member of several organizations, including the Governing Council of the Air Force Association of AP & Telangana, the Core Group of the Defence Veterans Volunteers Group in Hyderabad, and the South Asian Meteorological Association.
